Sustainable Development: The 6 SDGs implemented by BSC so far.
Fundamental changes happen when we realize that we are capable of creating them. Living in a world affected by COVID-19, gender inequality, human rights violations, and the consequences of war, we believe it is our duty to make it better. No matter where we come from or what we do for a living, we all want to live in a healthy and thriving environment. Our actions today shape the future, which is why it is crucial to take measures now to build a better world for everyone. Here is how we, the Business Support Center (BSC), are contributing to this mission.
Recognizing the importance of implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Armenia, BSC has promoted and successfully applied several of them in its projects. These include Goal 4, Quality Education — “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all,” and Goal 5, Gender Equality — “achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.”
By carrying out many projects for people in rural Armenia and Artsakh, BSC is committed to achieving Goal 1, No Poverty — “end poverty in all its forms everywhere,” as well as Goal 10, Reduced Inequalities — “reduce inequality within and among countries,” ensuring equal opportunities for all.
Global partnership is at the core of BSC’s work. Goal 17, Partnerships for the Goals, emphasizes the importance of collaboration for sustainable development. To achieve the targets set by the SDGs, partnerships are essential in all their forms and configurations.
Thanks to our company’s efforts in promoting quality education, many entrepreneurs have been able to develop business plans and launch start-ups. Many individuals, empowered by the knowledge gained through our training courses, have successfully entered the labor market. These achievements directly contribute to Goal 8, Decent Work and Economic Growth. Through such actions, BSC’s impact in its activities and projects is significant in advancing the 2030 Agenda.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, is an urgent call to reduce poverty, ensure peace and well-being, and protect the environment and the planet. Its 17 goals and 169 targets aim to improve living conditions and safeguard the environment, especially in developing countries. Although challenges remain in achieving the SDGs worldwide, every single action matters.
